Thesis Title: The Web 2.0 in tourism. Travel Stories as an Opportunity for the Tourism Hospitality Industry

About

During the 20th century the world wide web radically changed many consumers behaviour patterns: Tourists globally started using on-line information to package their holidays, to find advice during their trips and to easily share feed-back and photos around the world. Today, such content can truly influence the On-line Reputation of any company linked to the Travel Industry, and certainly does influence many people’s Travel Decisions; so much so that the Tourist Industry does not always rank this anymore as a great opportunity, but now often sees it as an actual threat. This Research Project focuses on the role of Web and Social Networks in Tourism, starting with web site evaluation methods through the description of the on-line interactions between supply and demand. On this basis, the results’ research will be developed in a new method to analyze the users’ generated content. Tourist destinations and small-medium companies can therefore plan strategically focused strategies of business and social impact for tourism.
